Delivering Value

Since the restructuring of our Federation a little less than two years ago, we have been campaigning non-stop for our industry.

Our lobbying activities have included the provision of in depth contributions to European regulatory bodies and opinion-makers on issues as key as responsible lending & borrowing, credit mediation,  access to credit histories, the Consumer Credit Directive and financial education, to name just a few.

We have strengthened our relationships with key officials working on important consumer credit related dossiers in the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council. We lead the CCD debate in EBIC (European Banking Industry Committee) and we are increasingly recognised by policy-makers and consultants as the expert voice of the consumer credit industry in Europe.

The impressive number of daily hits on our website is testament to its success and our visibility has been further enhanced through increased media coverage and regular presentations at industry conferences.

We have also worked hard to bring Europe to our membership by providing our member associations with regular targeted European insights through, inter alia:
  • EU Watch, a tailored monitoring system of EU and Eurofinas activities;
  • exclusive, focused circulars on key relevant developments (incl. new EU initiatives, ECJ case law, competition best practices, etc.);
  • the collection, analysis and provision of comprehensive European statistics (incl. annual and bi annual surveys, fact sheet, market profiles, etc.); and
  • ad hoc comparative surveys and analysis (anti-money laundering, insurance mediation directive, consumer credit directive, credit ombudsman, late payments, etc.).
Most importantly member satisfaction is high as shown in a recent membership survey. This last point is absolutely key as we consider our member associations as our clients and are determined to be client-focused and stay away from the endless and futile internal political discussions which tend to characterize some trade associations.
More regulation is likely to come out of the current financial and economic crisis. More than ever it is essential for the consumer credit industry to have a strong voice at European level. Eurofinas is that voice.

I am grateful to Eurofinas staff for their high quality work and to the Federation’s member associations for their commitment, support and many encouragements. This bodes very well for the future development of our Federation and is a source of great motivation.
