Eurofinas joins cross-sector call simplify the EU's digital framework

Eurofinas has joined a broad coalition of European and national industry associations to call on EU policymakers to use the forthcoming Digital Omnibus package as an opportunity to strengthen Europe’s innovation capacity and technological sovereignty.

In a joint statement, industry representatives highlight the need for targeted regulatory simplification to support innovation, investment and economic growth across the European Union. In particular, the coalition calls for measures to reduce unnecessary regulatory burden, including in relation to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); provide greater legal certainty for data use and the development of artificial intelligence; and streamline overlapping cybersecurity reporting obligations.

The signatories stress that the Digital Omnibus package presents a unique opportunity to create a more coherent and innovation-friendly regulatory framework. They also caution that rushed compromises within the Council of the European Union could undermine the objective of meaningful simplification.

The coalition therefore encourages Member States to take the necessary time to develop a framework that supports Europe’s competitiveness while fostering innovation, investment and growth.
